aMinute...

Have you ever been in a place where you just felt like you needed a minute.
To breath.
To not have to think.
But, sometimes the problem is that you don't have one.
Can't figure out how to fit it in.
Taking a time out means putting more work on others.

Chris came home about a month ago and asked me if I had checked my email. No. He explains that one of our friends, Megan, had sent him an email that he was not sure how to respond to.  Ok.  Obviously, I grabbed the computer and got to reading.  Well, of course before I got to the end tears were streaming down my face.  I told Chris I was kind of speechless and he was right, I wasn't sure what to do or how to respond.

The email was very kind.  Megan explained that a group of our friends wanted to give us a special day.  My day would be at the spa and Chris' on the golf course with the guys.  The girls would watch our kids and then when we got back, they would then let me and Chris have a date night.  After a few emails back and forth we negotiated that we would take the day they were offering...but we would pay for our own "date night".  They asked for weekends that we had available and then we received this email.

Chris, as Nick told you yesterday, he's supposed to be booking your tee time some time today. I think he's aiming for some time around 11am, so we'll be up there before that.

Sara, you are gonna have the life on Saturday. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous! :) Your first appointment at Spa Venessa is a facial at 11:45. Following that you'll have your massage, mani/pedi, and then a blow out (they call it a "style-out," but whatever). The blow out is part of a deal they're running in March...we're not suggesting that you need a blow out. :) They just gave it to you. They said you'd be out of there around 4:30, so that should give you enough time to get ready for dinner.

Speaking of dinner, you win. Go to Shout. We won't pay for it. :( Nick and I have no plans on Sunday, so there's no need for y'all to rush home. Oops, I mean, we're always insanely busy because we have such an active social life, so we're totally booked on Sunday...riiiight.

We also want y'all to know that we'll all be making a donation to the Susan G. Komen walk that you're doing in May. Should we bring y'all a check, or is there a way to do it online. I can't remember...

Anyway, we can't wait to see all of you...it's been too long!

So...this is how we spent last weekend.
To say we were still a little overwhelmed is a bit of an understatement.
I spent 4.5 hours at a spa.
Chris got to hang out with his friends on a golf course.
They paid for everything.
We had a nice dinner...just the two of us.
Went to a movie.

They showed up at our house at 10am.
We got home from the movie at 11:00pm
Not only did they plan and pay for it...
they gave up an ENTIRE day.
They expected nothing in return.
We are beyond greatful.
So, today when I got an email notification of a donation being made to the Susan G. Komen walk in honor of my mom this weekend...and saw all their names...
I again was brought to tears.
It's too much.
I have learned through this process that we have amazing friends.

So, to

Megan, Nick and Ella
Stacie and Kevin
Tara and John
Aaron and Christy

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...for aMinute!
Ok...it was really like 13 hours, but you know what I mean!!!!
You guys are "the Bees Knees"!

 Nick, Kevin, Chris, Aaron
 Christy, Stacie, Me, Megan
Tara and John

...all pics were stolen from Megan's blog!
...oh, and I'm not exactly sure what it is with Golf Courses and these boys (it tends to be where they share all the "good" news)...but we started the day thinking there was just one baby on the way, but ended it with two on the way!  We can't wait to meet both little angels!

  1. If you don't deserve such an awesome day to yourself, I don't know who does! We were so happy to be a part of it!
